As of September 2001, there were 127,076 Federal employees with targeted and non-targeted disabilities in non- postal Federal Executive Branch agencies. In fiscal year 2002, there were 11,847 full time permanent (FTP) hires of persons with disabilities.
Uses and Use Restrictions
The Federal government provides employment opportunities to persons with physical, cognitive, or mental disabilities in positions for which they qualify.
The Selective Placement Program is concerned with providing avenues for agencies to develop methodologies related to recruitment referral, placement, advancement, and the retention of Federal employees with disabilities.
The program has strong relationships with State vocational rehabilitation agencies, Department of Veterans Affairs facilities, and other public and private agencies concerned with rehabilitation and placement of persons with disabilities.
