with Section 101 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Participation in the GCDAMP, a Federal Advisory Committee, provides this opportunity.

The Navajo Nation is the only entity that can provide tribal cultural history because it is unique to their cultural and mostly unknown to outside sources.

The Navajo Nation participates in the GCDAMP to identify, evaluate, monitor and equally participate in long-term management of all historic properties, sacred areas, and locations of traditional Navajo cultural use that are within the area affected by the operations of the Glen Canyon Dam.

Since 1994 the Navajo Nations’ participation in the GCDAMP has been essential to ensuring that the tribal values are represented at the various program functions and effective government-to-government consultation that may affect resources.
