FY 2016 Study of the U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders from Europe

The Study of the U. S. Branch, Office of Academic Exchange Programs, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, invites proposal submissions for the design and implementation of three Study of the U. S. Institutes (SUSIs) for Student Leaders from Europe, pending the availability of FY 2016 funds.

The SUSIs for Student Leaders from Europe should consist of three separate Institutes under three themes.

Taking place over the course of five weeks at a U. S. academic institution, each Institute should be organized for a group of approximately 22 foreign undergraduate students from underserved communities and focus on one of the following themes:
Civic Engagement; Environmental Stewardship; and Social Entrepreneurship.

ECA plans to issue one Cooperative Agreement for the administration of the three Study of the U. S. Institutes and welcomes applications from accredited post-secondary education institutions in the United States and public and private non-profit organizations or consortia of organizations.

The award recipient will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and implementing the program including the administration of all three Institutes.

The Institutes should take place at U. S. academic institutions and should provide participants with in-depth seminars on the topics detailed in the following section.

Each Institute should include four weeks of academic residency followed by a one-week integrated study tour that will expose participants to a unique region of the United States.

The one-week study tour should conclude with a two or three day session in Washington, D.C.

Each Institute will host approximately 22 participants, for a total of approximately 66 students.

The expected start date of the Institutes is June 201 6.
