The Surface Transportation Program (STP) provides flexible funding that may be used by States and localities for projects to preserve and improve the conditions and performance on any Federal-aid highway, bridge and tunnel projects on any public road, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and transit

capital projects, including intercity bus terminals.

The FHWA has approved the transfer of funds, since this project directly provides intermodal integration through the provision of efficient transfers among intercity transportation and local transit networks by providing improved access to Bus Rapid Transit from the Station.

Transferred funds will be used to construct a new Schenectady Station building on roughly the same footprint as the existing station building and associated site work including pedestrian connections to transit.
