Kearny to await state grant for Downtown Revitalization

The city of Kearney has requested a $350,000 Downtown Revitalization grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. The appealed grant will be used for one or more downtown parking lots to be plumbed for water and wired for electricity as well as funds to purchase new energy streetlights on Central Avenue from 22nd Street north to 25th Street. Other ideas include bicycle routes, way-finding signs and a park on 24th Street between First and Central Avenues.

The Republic of Rwanda has been picked as one of the six African countries as beneficiaries for a new fellowship fund program designed at supporting social entrepreneurs in tackling issues on food security.
