State grant awarded to Alabama’s Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Division

The Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs have received a state grant amounting to $348,813 from the U.S. Justice Department. The grant will be used to combat juvenile crime which includes identifying, controlling, supervising and treating young people who repeatedly commit serious crimes. Through the grant, the justice department aims to provide “accountability based programs” for juvenile offenders, establish a program for graduated penalties and improve the juvenile court computer system.
