National Leadership Grants

The Institute of Museum and Library Services, more commonly referred to as IMLS, is an independent agency of the United States of America that is generally responsible for supporting all of the nation's libraries and museums.

The attempts of the IMLS are all patterned towards the achievement of their overall agency mission which is to "create strong libraries and museums that connect people with information and ideas."

In keeping with this mission, the Institute of Museum and Library Services has been running the National Leadership Grants Program in an effort to address the issues and concerns that stand in the way of libraries, museums, and other archive centers or fields.

The program also seeks to generate proposals that will lead to the development of new tools, up to date research findings, new models, services, practices, and alliances that have the potential to be widely utilized, scaled, adapted, and replicated.

In addition, the IMLS has also requested for this year's proposals to be in line with these three major goals:

1) Create a learner-centered experience and show support to activities in museums and libraries that will eventually encourage people to take part in their local community and in the global society.   (continued...)

In keeping with this mission, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture has recently established the Common Bean Productivity Research for Global Food Security Competitive Grants Program in an attempt to develop approaches and methods that can efficiently address the various challenges facing common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) production among small holder producers in food insecure countries.

In accordance with this mission, the Administration for Children and Families has recently established the Child Welfare - Early Education Partnerships to Expand Protective Factors for Children with Child Welfare Involvement Program.

Health Care Fraud Program Expansion and Senior Medical Patrol Capacity Building Grants
In line with this mission, the Administration on Aging has recently established the Health Care Fraud Program Expansion and Senior Medical Patrol Capacity Building Grants in an attempt to boost the capacity of the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program to reach more Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, their families and caregivers, while focusing on fraud prevention and identification.

Department of Agriculture: Value Added Producer Grants
The Value-Added Producer Grants program is geared towards helping the Independent Producers of Agricultural Commodities, Agriculture Producer Groups, Farmer and Rancher Cooperatives, and Majority-Controlled Producer-Based Business Ventures in developing techniques that would create marketing opportunities and establish business plans involving viable marketing opportunities that involve the production of bio-based products from agricultural commodities.
