Page 2The current cost of Concentrating Solar Power is approximately 21 cents per kWh without economic support. The SunShot Concentrating Solar Power Research and Development Project seeks to lower this cost down to 6 cents per kHw by improving all of the four CSP subsystems, which are specifically the collector field, receiver, thermal storage, and power block.
Pricipal investigators who are interested to submit an application for this project can apply under one of four topics:
a) Topic 1: Advanced Collectors
b) Topic 2: Advanced Receivers
c) Topic 3: Advanced Power Cycles
d) Topic 4: Seedling CSP Concepts
Upon the initial submission of the application, which falls under the preliminary application phase, the EERE will invite selected applicants to submit a full application in order to advance into the next step of evaluation.
EERE has allocated a total of $60,000,000 to fund the SunShot Concentrating Solar Power Research and Development Project and is set to administer multiple awards under the program.
All institutions and organizations that are incorporated in the United States will be deemed eligible to submit an application for this program except for non-profit organizations that have engaged in lobbying activities and institutions and organizations that are not incorporated in the United States.
The United States Department of Energy, the principal agency funding the SunShot Concentrating Solar Power Research and Development Project, is the country's premiere agency that seeks to advance national, economic, and energy security in the United States.
