USBEA Small Grants Program
The United States Embassy in Brasília, Brazil, announces a notification of funding opportunity (NOFO) to support an USBEA Small Grants Program designed to support activities of U. S. government sponsored exchange alumni in Brazil with up to U$30,000 in FY2017 for a project period not to exceed 12
months.
The preliminary start date for this activity is September 30, 2017, and one award is anticipated as a result of this NOFO.
However, should both parties consider the results of this alumni small grants program to be positive – and also subject to availability of funds – we may agree to renew this NOFO for up to two additional years.
We are seeking proposals for the development and implementation of a small grants program to support projects by alumni of U. S. government exchange programs in Brazil.
Potential recipients of the small grants offered by this program are Brazilian Alumni who participated in USG sponsored exchange programs and are active members of USBEA chapters in Brazil.
This opportunity furthers U. S. foreign policy priorities by strengthening ties with its alumni in Brazil who share American values and interests and assist them in spreading those values and interests in their local communities.
U. S. Embassy Brasília, Brazil reserves the right to fund any or none of the applications submitted and will determine the resulting level of funding for the award.
The authority for this NOFO is found in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended.
Eligible organizations interested in submitting an application are encouraged to read this NOFO thoroughly to understand the type of project sought and the application submission requirements and evaluation process.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
(1) Eligible Entities: Applicants who are eligible to apply are U. S. and overseas-based Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Educational Institutions and other qualified organizations who are able to respond to the NOFO and be able to mobilize in a short period of time.
To be eligible for a grant award, in addition to other conditions of this NOFO, organizations must have a commitment to non-discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices.
Non-discriminatory includes equal treatment without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, and political affiliation.
Applicants are reminded that U. S. Executive Orders and U. S. Law prohibits transactions with, and the provision of resources and support to, individuals and organizations associated with terrorism.
It is the legal responsibility of the Recipient to ensure compliance with these Executive Orders and laws.
This provision must be included in any sub-awards issued under this grant award.

Proper and complete registrations and Applicants must acquire all required registrations in the United States and/or Brazil.
All intellectual property considerations and rights must be fully met in the United States and Brazil.
Local Brazilian partners (including sub-grantee) must have a valid Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Juridicas (CNPJ) number from the Government of Brazil.

U.S Organizations are required to have a local based partner in Brazil in order to be eligible for this grant award.
(2) U. S. Embassy Brasília, Brazil requires that applicants can demonstrate prior experience supporting alumni groups or small-scale community development or capacity building activities.
(3) U. S. Embassy Brasília-Brazil encourages applications from potential new partners.
