USAID/Nicaragua Municipal Governance Program

The purpose of this program is to help municipal governments improve the delivery of basic public services to their constituents by promoting:
1) more accountable and competent local governments which effectively manage public resources, 2) more effective engagement of citizens with municipal governments


in order to influence decision making and demand accountability and transparency, and 3) the implementation of municipal service improvements and infrastructure projects.

The desired end state is that municipal governments are accountable to citizens and can increasingly meet their public service needs.
