State Process for Informing Consumers of Recalls

The purpose of the Grant is for The U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), hereby requests applications from eligible departments or offices from the 50 States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to obtain funding to assist States with

credit:


the development and implementation of a State process for informing motor vehicle owners and lessees of open motor vehicle recalls at the time of motor vehicle registration.

Grants will support States in developing a methodology for determining open recalls on motor vehicles, informing owners and lessees of the open recalls at the time of registration, and evaluating through the analysis of completed recalls the performance of the notification program.

Award Recipients must implement the notification program for a two-year period and then evaluate the results.
