Democracy Commission Small Grants Program

The Democracy Commission Small Grants Program was initiated in the spring of 1994 as a way to support Albanian non-governmental, non-partisan organizations, which, in the Commission’s view, promote the development of a democratic society.

The U. S. Embassy Democracy Commission identifies


those initiatives, which influence the establishment and development of democratic civil society in Albania .

This category includes but is not limited to projects which aim at the establishment and preservation of the rule of law and democracy, respect for human rights, economic reform, environmental clean-up, the strengthening of the NGO sector, the reconciliation of disputes, better journalism.
