This NOFO aims to contribute to improving the quality of health care services including hospital disease reporting systems, laboratory services, workforce development, building capacities to prevent, detect, respond, and control HIV/AIDS, infectious and non-communicable diseases, injuries, and public
health emergencies.
Vietnam has made impressive progress toward improving the health status of the population; however, many challenges remain.
Health sector reviews have identified an emerging burden of non-communicable diseases and infectious diseases, an aging population, inadequate capacity of the health system, and problems of inequities in access to health and health care.
As external support for Vietnam’s public health programs is declining, there is an obvious need to expand and sustain the country’s capacity to ensure accuracy of diagnostic testing and consistency in the standards of care for patients and Vietnam’s capacity to quickly and effectively detect and respond to public health threats and emerging outbreaks.
