The U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) intends to issue a draft Funding Opportunity Announcement (dFOA) for Accident Tolerant Fuels (ATFs).
The ATF program is focused on the development and initial testing of light water reactor (LWR) fuel concepts with accident tolerant features.
A LWR
ATF Development Workshop will be held on March 29, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah where the DOE will present its current strategic thinking for developing and evaluating concepts for LWR fuels with enhanced accident tolerant characteristics and provide participants with an opportunity to comment on the process and objectives specified in the dFOA.
See attached Workshop Announcement.
This is for a DRAFT Funding Opportunity Announcement only; DOE is NOT seeking and will not accept applications or proposals, nor make awards, resulting from this dFOA.
At this time, DOE is seeking input from industry and other interested parties on the dFOA.
The dFOA, will be available on the Grants.gov website via the Internet at http://grants.gov/ under reference number DE-FOA-0000692, prior to the workshop.
Industry comment may be incorporated into the planned final ATF FOA, anticipated to be issued later this Spring 201 2. Interested parties shall have the workshop and approximately one (1) week thereafter to submit any comments, questions, concerns or suggestions regarding the dFOA for DOEs consideration to the Contract Specialist, Heather Merrill at the following e-mail address:
merrilhj@id.doe.gov.
The deadline for submission of dFOA responses is:
April 9, 201 2. All comments, questions and suggestions submitted in response to the draft Funding Opportunity Announcement (dFOA) will be considered by DOE.
In response, DOE plans to issue a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on or about the time the final FOA is issued.
However, DOE does not plan to reply directly to parties who have submitted comments to the dFOA, nor does DOE necessarily intend to address each specific comment submitted.
