The U. S. Study Abroad Branch within the Office of Global Educational Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition to administer the FY2025 Benjamin A.
Gilman International Scholarship Program (hereinafter referred to as the “Gilman Program”).
The
stated intent of the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000, the authorizing legislation for the Gilman Program, is to support U. S. undergraduate students of limited financial means to study outside the United States in order to “broaden the outlook and better prepare such students of demonstrated financial need to assume significant roles in the increasingly global economy.” As outlined in legislation, the Gilman Program is open to citizens and nationals of the United States and provides scholarships to enable undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue credit-bearing academic studies or internships overseas.
