The U. S. Embassy in Baghdad invites eligible organizations to submit proposals to create a Children’s Interpretive Center in the Erbil Citadel’s newly renovated space.
The conservation and restoration of a heritage building complex at the Erbil Citadel was completed with funds from
another U. S. Embassy Baghdad grant with the view to creating a space for children to learn about the history of this ancient structure.
The target audience will be school groups for children under the age of 12, families with their children, and /or children visiting the Citadel as tourists.
The project is expected to last 12 months, after which the center will be ready for schools, tourists, and the general public.
The governments of Iraq and the United States are committed through the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement to the establishment of affiliations between Iraqi and U. S. institutions to protect Iraqi Cultural Heritage.
