9-1-1 Technical Assistance Center

SUMMARY:
The objective of this cooperative agreement is to establish and operate a national Technical Assistance Center (hereinafter identified as “TAC”).

The TAC will provide local and State 9 1 1 authorities and Public Safety Answering Points (hereinafter identified as PSAPs) with technical

credit:


assistance, consultation and resource identification to develop and implement advanced capabilities that enable 9 1 1 systems to better receive and process landline, wireless and Internet Protocol (IP)-based 9 1 1 calls and data.

NHTSA expects that the TAC will be a facility requiring limited infrastructure and office facilities to provide technical assistance functions such as an information clearinghouse and 9 1 1 system progress reports for 9 1 1 Authorities and PSAPs.
