Restoration and Enhancement (R&E) Grants Program

The purpose of the R&E Program is to provide operating assistance to initiate, restore, or enhance intercity passenger rail transportation.

Eligible projects will include operating expenses associated with intercity passenger rail service, such as:
staffing costs; diesel fuel or electricity

credit:


costs; station costs; lease payments on rolling stock; routine planned maintenance costs; host railroad costs; train yard operation costs; and administrative costs.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Amtrak or another rail carrier that provides intercity rail passenger transportation, and any rail carrier in partnership with at least a State (including the District of Columbia),a group of States, an Interstate Compact; a public agency or publicly chartered authority established by one or more States, or a political subdivision of a State.
