FY 2023 Competitive Funding Opportunity: Areas of Persistent Poverty Program

To create new opportunities for those experiencing poverty, the U. S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) today announced a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to help improve transit in areas experiencing long-term economic distress.

in competitive grant funding through FTA’s Areas of Persistent Poverty (AoPP) Program provides more resources to underserved and disadvantaged communities seeking to expand or improve transit.

5311) located in Areas of Persistent Poverty or Historically Disadvantaged Communities.Entities that are subrecipients or indirect recipients under these programs must apply through their ordinary pass-through entities or designated recipients.

State departments of transportation may apply on behalf of eligible applicants within their states.Applicants are also encouraged to work with non-profit organizations.
