2017 National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program

The National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) was established and authorized in Section 351 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58, Sec.

351).

Section 351 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, recognizes the need for the preservation and cataloging

credit:


of, and access to geological and geophysical data for future economic importance.

The objectives of the Program as outlined in the Act are to:
(1) archive geologic, geophysical, and engineering data, maps, well logs, and samples; (2) provide a national catalog of such archival material; and (3) provide technical and financial assistance related to the archival material.
