The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in understanding how different thermal and flow regimes affect population dynamics of warmwater fishes that are native to Mississippi basin and non-native invaders in the Colorado River basin including walleye,
smallmouth bass and green sunfish.
The objectives of the project are to 1) develop population models for these species that respond to changing hydrology and water temperature, and 2) use these models to forecast how different reservoir operations (and resulting hydrology and thermal regimes) may facilitate or stop their invasion into new river segments in the Colorado River basin.
