2015 Lifespan Respite Care Program: Grants to New States

ACL will fund one grant, with a federal funding level of up to $200,000 per award for a 36 month project period, pending the availability of Federal funds.

Eligible state agencies funded under this announcement shall use grant funds for planning, establishing and expanding/enhancing Lifespan

Respite Care systems in the states, including new and planned emergency respite services, training and recruiting respite workers and volunteers and assisting caregivers with gaining access to needed services.

All applicants must demonstrate the support and active involvement of a range of government and non-government, private, non-profit and other organizations with a stake in serving populations eligible to receive services under the Lifespan Respite Care Act.

Only one application per State will be funded.

Once funded, grantees will be expected to collaborate with multiple state and local agencies representing all ages, populations and disability/disease groups in planning and carrying out the requirements of the project.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
By Statute, eligible applicants include State Units on Aging, State Medicaid Agencies, or another State agency designated by the governor to apply for funds.

Eligible applicants must work in conjunction with the ADRC in the state and in concert with the statewide respite coalition or respite organization.This funding opportunity would only be made to eligible States who have not received funding under this program in FYs 2009 - 2014.

Individuals, foreign entities, and sole proprietorship organizations are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement.
