This notice announces the intention of HHS/OPHS to obligate approximately $600,000 of Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 funds via a supplemental award to the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) to develop a flu prevention education project and to continue its collaborative effort to further ODPHP?s
mission to coordinate disease prevention and health promotion initiatives for the Department.

APTR is the only organization with the experience and scientific standing to accomplish the goals set forth in this announcement.
With greater than 65 years of experience in prevention education, APTRs mission is to advance population-based and public health education, research, and service by linking and supporting members of the prevention community.
The existing relationship between APTR and ODPHP/OPHS/HHS provides a unique opportunity to maximize HHSs return on investment for this project.
There is no other organization with APTRs history and capability.
