Nascent Light-Matter Interactions (NLM)

The Defense Sciences Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting innovative research proposals that advance our knowledge and understanding of lightmatter interactions.

In particular, DARPA seeks to develop new and systematic approaches to the design of engineered


structures and materials that change how we manipulate electromagnetic waves and capitalize on nascent wave-matter interactions.

Proposed researchshould investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science, devices, or systems.

Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice.
