Area Health Education Centers Infrastructure Development

The Area Health Education Center (AHEC) programs consist of interdisciplinary, community-based, primary care training programs wherein academic and community-based leaders work to improve the distribution, diversity, supply, and quality of health care personnel, particularly primary care personnel in

credit:


the health care services delivery system and more specifically in delivery sites in rural and other underserved areas.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits applications for a one-year project period for AHEC Infrastructure Development awards and AHEC Point of Service Maintenance and Enhancement awards, as authorized by Title VII, Section 751, of the PHS Act, as amended by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Public Law 111-14 8. Successful applicants will be awarded cooperative agreements to establish and advance statewide or multi-county AHEC programs.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Entities eligible to apply for AHEC Infrastructure Development awards are public or private nonprofit accredited schools of allopathic medicine and osteopathic medicine and incorporated consortia made up of such schools, or the parent institutions of such schools.

In States and Territories in which no AHEC program is in operation, an accredited school of nursing is an eligible applicant.
