Black Lung Centers of Excellence

HRSA/ORHP supports projects that seek to reduce

the morbidity and mortality associated with occupationally-related coal mine dust lung disease.

This is accomplished through two strategies:
the provision of direct services and strengthening the public health infrastructure to ensure the safety and health of the nation's coal miners.

The latter includes not only providing technical assistance to entities providing direct services, but also strengthening the capacity and the knowledge base of the larger medical community and the public.
