BOEM FY 2016 Marine Minerals Program/CESU Study

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) through the Marine Minerals Program (MMP) is offering a cooperative agreement opportunity to conduct research to serve the public interest in offshore sand resources, coastal restoration, coastal resiliency, and to meet the MMP and Gulf States goal of a Gulf-wide

Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) sediment inventory.

The overall goal of this study is to develop a processing workflow for geophysical data that will improve interpretive capability with applications for sand resource identification and provide a better understanding of the geologic evolution of late Quaternary deposits on the Texas inner shelf that will be applied to delineate and quantify reserves estimates (volumes) of restoration quality sand resources for discrete sand bodies located on the OCS.

Data collection and analysis in support of these goals promotes preservation of biological, cultural, and economic resources by rebuilding coastlines to safeguard the Nations assets and delineates OCS mineral resources to inform long term planning and ensure protection from activities that might otherwise permanently obstruct access to the resource.

This announcement is specifically to announce intent to undertake the following project:
Texas Offshore Sediment Resources Inventory:
Development and Application of Geophysical Processing Workflows for Sand Resource Evaluation.

This Program Announcement describes a cooperative agreement that may be awarded to the University of Texas, Institute for Geophysics via the Gulf Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units (CESU).

This is not an open solicitation for proposals.

Award is premised on receipt of an acceptable proposal.
