Subject to the availability of funds, USDOL’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) intends to award, through a competitive
credit:
process, one or more cooperative agreements to organizations to implement a project in Madagascar.
The proposed objective of the project is to reduce child labor in the vanilla-producing areas of the Sava region of Madagascar.
The project outcomes include:
(1) vanilla exporters have significantly reduced child labor in the production of vanilla at the farm and collection levels in Sava; (2) law enforcement entities are effectively enforcing child labor laws and policies in the vanilla-producing areas of Sava, including imposing and collecting penalties and referring child labor victims to appropriate services; (3) community members are monitoring for child labor and are referring victims of child labor to the appropriate authorities and services; and (4) beneficiary households are no longer using child labor to supplement household income.
The Employment and Training Administration (ETA)’s Office of Grants Management anticipates publishing the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) before the end of June 2016 (this date is subject to change).
