A Program on International Water Cooperation

The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs,™ Office of Conservation and Water at the U. S. Department of State, announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity for a program on international water cooperation.

The program on international water cooperation

will improve cooperation over shared waters in regions where water is, or may become, a source of conflict.

The program goal is to build political will and advance cooperative processes on shared waters where the lack of political commitment/engagement is an impediment to cooperative action on shared waters.

Meeting this goal will increase shared prosperity and regional security.

At least one, and possibly several, cooperative agreements, totaling up to $778,000 U. S. Dollars in FY15 Economic Support Funds, will be awarded for the implementation of this project, pending availability of funds.

The initial period of performance for each project will be for at least 18 months.

Additional funding may be available to continue or expand selected activities funded in this cycle.

Melbourne social enterprise Who Gives A Crap sold nearly 3 million rolls of toilet paper in 2014/15 and gave half the proceeds to WaterAid Australia, but co-founder Simon Griffiths says the donation would have been less had the startup adopted a non-profit model when it launched two years ago.
