U.S. Embassy Doha Sports Diplomacy Programming

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONThe Public Affairs Section at the U. S. Embassy in Qatar invites proposals for comprehensive sports diplomacy programming targeting underserved youth in Qatar residing in areas outside the capital city of Doha.

The target audience for this programming is youth under the age


of 1 8. Not less than 50 youth should benefit from programming to be organized by the grant recipient.Examples of activities are but not limited to:· Clinics to teach youth participants a new sport· Clinics to enhance youth participants’ skills in a sport for which they are a beginner· Train-the-trainer clinics to support youth-to-youth mentorship in sportsApplicants should have considerable, practical, and relevant experience in the implementation of the proposed activities to be seriously considered for this project.

Previous experience dealing with Qatari audiences is preferred.

Projects that seek to include elements related to popular sports in the United States, as well as including involvement by U. S. athletes and/or coaches will be given priority.

Audiences who are considered a priority for this program include:
· Youth/students in traditionally underserved communities· Minority groups · Girls· Persons with disabilities Programs must conform with U. S. Embassy requirements and guidelines outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

The following types of programs are not eligible for funding:
• Programs relating to partisan political activity• Charitable or development activities/ fund-raising campaigns• Construction projects• Programs that support specific religious activities• Lobbying for specific legislation or programs • Scientific research• Programs intended primarily for the growth or institutional development of the organization• Programs that duplicate existing programs• Programs that only involve the procurement of equipment and supplies Authorizing legislation, type, and year of funding Funding authority rests in the Smith-Mundt.

The source of funding is FY2021 Public Diplomacy Funding.
