The Cooperative Watershed Management Program (CWMP) contributes to the WaterSMART strategy by providing funding to watershed groups to encourage diverse stakeholders to form local solutions to address their water management needs.
The purpose of the CWMP is to improve water quality and ecological
resilience, conserve water, and reduce conflicts over water through collaborative conservation efforts in the management of local watersheds.

Additional Information of Eligibility:Applicants eligible to receive financial assistance to fund activities under this FOA include: Task A - Establishment of a Watershed Group: States, Indian tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, or other organizations with water or power delivery authority located in the western United States or United States Territories as identified in the Reclamation Act of June 17, 1902, as amended.
Task B - Expansion of an Existing Watershed Group: An existing watershed group, i.e., a grassroots, non-regulatory entity and otherwise meets the definition of a watershed group or a member of an existing watershed group.
