The Department of States Cultural Programs Division (ECA/PE/C/CU) in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is pleased to announce an open competition for grants from U. S. based non profit organizations including museums, galleries, visual and design arts centers and schools of design and
architecture to organize the official U. S. presentation at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition to be held in Venice, Italy, August through November, 201 2. NOTE:
Although precise opening/closing dates for this highly prestigious exhibition have yet to be announced, past exhibitions have usually been held from August through the end of November.
A three-day Preview/Inauguration of the Venice Architecture Biennale will be conducted prior to the official opening of the exhibition.The international architecture exhibition is the premier showcase for revolutionary ideas in contemporary architecture and planning through national representations.
Proposals should represent the most excellent and innovative work in American architecture and landscape architecture.
Pending availability of funds, the Department of State will make up to $100,000 available for all aspects of the exhibition including development, preparation, travel of curators and key participants, production, installation, and the return or onward shipping of the exhibition at the Biennales end.
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice will provide the staffing, maintenance, and operations of the U. S. Pavilion during installation, and for the approximate three month period of the exhibition.
