in the design and implementation of core programs for the FY 2021 Community Heritage Exchange Initiative (CHEI).

This initiative is one of three that the Center will launch in 2021 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the U. S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).

Since its inception 20 years ago, the AFCP has supported over a thousand projects in more than 650 communities in 133 countries around the world.

They are:
the CHEI (the subject of this NOFO) and the AFCP Alumni Exchange.

A NOFO has been issued for each.

Applicants may apply to either one or both as they prefer.

The CHEI will strengthen connections between American and foreign communities by documenting and sharing stories of cultural heritage.

This initiative shall provide communities, filmmakers and media specialists, both American and foreign, with new technical knowledge and skills that they may apply in their work.

It shall consist of five core exchange programs centered on exploring the importance of cultural heritage preservation to those whose lives are impacted by those sites, objects, and practices.

The AFCP projects chosen to be highlighted in these exchanges will represent a range of heritage types and serve as examples of the intricacies and complexities of preservation efforts worldwide.
