Democracy Commission Small Grants Program

The U. S. Embassy Tashkent Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U. S. Department of State is pleased to announce funding is available through the Embassy’s Democracy Commission Small Grants Program.

This program supports the development of Uzbekistan’s democratic institutions and


civil society by competitively awarding small grants to Uzbekistan’s nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and associations, to nonprofit civil society organizations (CSOs), and to independent local media organizations.The U. S. Embassy Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) in Tashkent is soliciting proposals for grants from Uzbekistan’s civil society and independent media organizations that focus on one of the priority areas/themes specified below.

Applicants should pay close attention to the Public Diplomacy Section’s goals, priority program areas, target audiences when developing their proposals.Overall Program Goals:
Increase the capacity of civil society organizations in Uzbekistan to respond to the country’s urgent social needs and increase citizen participation in governance through effective implementation of reforms and laws on civil society, government transparency and citizen oversight.APPLICATION AND SUBMISSION INFORMATIONFirst Round:
Concept Note SubmissionBrief 1-2-paged Concept Note (please see attached CN template) with summary of project objectives, expected outcomes, outputs and approximate budget should be submitted by April 8, 202 4. April 8 Proposals must contribute to one or more of the following areas that are the focus of this Notice of Funding Opportunity:Advancing Women’s Empowerment and Social Entrepreneurship Strengthening Disability RightsEmpowering Citizen-led Initiatives to Improve Air QualitySecond Round:
Full Proposal SubmissionU. S. Embassy Tashkent will review all Statements of Interest and invite shortlisted projects to submit full grant applications.
