USAID/Bangladesh Innovation for Improving Early Grade Reading Activity

The purpose of this Annual Program Statement (APS) is to disseminate information to prospective applicants, so that they may develop and submit applications for USAID funding.

Specifically, this APS; 1)Describes the types of activity for which applications will be considered; 2)Describes the


funding available and the process and requirements for submitting applications; 3)Explains the criteria for evaluating applications; and, 4)Provides guidance on the types of entities that are eligible to apply for funding.

USAID may award one or multiple grants or no awards at all, as a result of this APS.

The goal of this Program is to fund innovations that will result in widespread improvements in literacy skills for Bangladeshi students via:
1) improved teaching and learning materials; 2) increased local capacity; 3) better trained teachers to develop literacy skills for students; and, 4) better education data to support decision-making, transparency, incentives and accountability.

All of which are essential to advancing the goal of all children reading in the primary grades
