The purpose of this program is to build on local efforts by technology-oriented civil society organizations using new technology and social media for development by formalizing a technology/social innovation lab--notionally named Social Innovation Lab-Kampuchea (SILK).
The SILK will build on
local efforts and achievements by technology oriented organizations to develop and deploy new media technologies in partnership with private sector and civil society organizations (CSOs); provide training and assistance to CSOs on how to use technology to advance development outcomes; and serve as a platform from which Cambodias burgeoning technology sector can develop new tools to address development challenges.
The program is based on the concept of social innovation--an area of development activity that straddles both the private and non-profit sectors--and refers to the conceptualization and development of new strategies, goods and services that meet societal needs and strengthen civil society.
