Gender Equity Program

The USAID/Pakistan is preparing to launch a new, five year, Gender Equity Program (GEP) that aims to advance women’s human rights and empowerment through the following four objectives:
(1) Enhancing gender equity by expanding women’s access to justice and women’s human rights; (2) Increasing women’s


empowerment by expanding knowledge of their rights and opportunities to exercise their rights in the workplace, community, and home; (3) Combating gender-based violence; and, (4) Strengthening the capacity of Pakistani organizations that advocate for gender equity, women’s empowerment and the elimination of gender-based violence.USAID will provide support to one or more Pakistani organizations that will function in a project management role for the GEP, to provide grants to a variety of civil society actors working in the area of gender equity and human rights.

Applications will be accepted from Pakistani organizations as prime applicants.

U. S. based and international organizations are eligible to participate as sub-applicants with Pakistani prime applicants.The Recipient under this program will fulfill a range of program-related and administrative functions.

The Recipient will be responsible for:
1) receiving and logging proposals; 2) vetting potential sub-grant recipients; 3) ensuring that proper administrative and financial controls are in place to administer funds and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations; 4) coordinating a review and approval process with USAID’s representative of this program; and, 5) monitoring and reporting upon grant implementation.Moreover, when needed, the Recipient will be tasked with providing capacity building training, service delivery, technical assistance, infrastructure support, systems development, research, multi-media productions and other creative forms of assistance to GEP awardees.

The Recipient will be expected to implement strategies for facilitating scale-up and sustainability of initiatives supported under GEP.

Such strategies can include the building on and strengthening existing local networks and institutions that benefit the populations served or building on and strengthening projects originally funded under GEP.

The estimated level of funding for this project is $40 million to over five years.
