2008, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has provided Food Distribution Program Nutrition Education (FDPNE) grants to Indian Tribal Organizations (ITOs) and State agencies (SAs).

The primary goal of the FDPNE grants program is to fund current FDPIR allowance holders (i.e., an entity that has a direct agreement with FNS to administer FDPIR) to provide nutrition education services to FDPIR participants.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Indian Tribal Organizations (ITOs) and State Agencies (SA) that administer Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) may apply individually or as a consortium (e.g., as a region or a regional nutrition advisory council).

A current FDPIR allowance holder (i.e., an entity that has a direct agreement with FNS to administer FDPIR) must submit the application.

If one or more ITOs wish to apply as a consortium, one ITO must be designated as the lead agency and apply on behalf of the other ITOs.

The lead agency is responsible, fiscally and operationally, for the overall administration of the project.
