The purpose of the program is to support the development and programmatic evaluation of a comprehensive, routine, opt-out HIV rapid testing, STI screening, and Hepatitis B vaccination initiative within a city or county jail facility.
This program addresses the Healthy People 2010 focus areas of
credit:
the following:
access to quality health services, HIV, immunization and infectious diseases, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Measurable outcomes of the program will be in alignment with one or more of the following performance goals for the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP):
( 2. 2) Decrease the rate of HIV transmission by HIV-infected persons.
( 2. 4) Increase the proportion of HIV-infected people in the United States who know they are infected.
( 2. 5) Increase the proportion of HIV-infected persons who are linked to prevention and care services.
( 2. 6) Reduce the rates of viral hepatitis in the United States.
( 2. 7) Reduce the rates of non-HIV sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the United States.
