Engaging State and Local Emergency Management Agencies to Improve Ability to Prepare for and Respond to All-Hazards Events

Purpose:
The purpose of this program is to prepare the Nation’s public health systems to minimize the consequences associated with all-hazards incidents and events.

The Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response/Division of State and Local Readiness (OPHPR/DSLR) works to promote

credit:


the integration of public health emergency preparedness into overarching emergency preparedness for all-hazards responses.

OPHPR/DSLR works through and with national partners to develop and enhance public health emergency preparedness.

Outcomes:
The applicant’s program is expected to demonstrate measurable progress among governmental and nongovernmental components of the public health system towards two or more of the following outcomes:
1) increased adoption of business improvements that lead to management and administrative efficiencies or cost savings; 2) increased availability and accessibility of education and training focused on cross-cutting emergency management and public health competencies and knowledge; 3) increased coordination of public health competencies into emergency management core capabilities; 4) improved capacity to meet nationally-established strategies, such as those for national preparedness and national health security; 6) establishment and maintenance of diverse public health partnerships for meaningful cooperation and achievement of evidence-based public health strategies and interventions; and 7) improved quality, availability, and accessibility of public health education, training, and evaluation tools and resources.
