FY 2013 Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program

Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program Grant - The Stewart B.

McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987, as amended, provides that the total appropriation shall only be awarded to the National Board for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

The National Board then allocates

credit:

funds to qualifying jurisdictions throughout the country based on a formula using the latest Federal population, unemployment, and poverty statistics.

The qualifying jurisdictions convene Local Boards that advertise the availability of funding and select local social service providers from the applications submitted.  Awarded funds are then disbursed directly to the local social service providers by the National Board.

Funds under this program are used to supplement non-disaster-related feeding, sheltering, and rent/mortgage and utility assistance efforts of these local providers.
