Kayak Camp Site and Interpretive Signage

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD:
This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s (NPS) intention to fund the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Kayak Camping Site and Educational Interpretation Projects.

The project will provide new kayak camping site and

public access to Lake Michigan Water Trail (shoreline).

The project will also educate paddlers and pedestrians via interpretative and wayfinding signs about the unique water resource of Lake Michigan and the three federal programs that intersect at that campsite location.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will collaborate with the NPS to work with paddlers in selecting the site and layout of campsite facilities, including signage.

Both agencies will work with graphics designer and paddlers to create a logo for the newly formed State Water Trail designation, to design a campsite sign for placement at the shoreline, and design the interpretive panel/kiosk.

The National Park Service will be substantially involved in fulfilling the tasks and objectives of the project.
