Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program

Executive Summary:
The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division (ECA/PE/C/PY), of the Department of State‟s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces an open competition for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX).

organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit a proposal to facilitate educational exchanges between American and German students under one of three CBYX components:
Secondary School, Vocational Studies, and Young Professionals.

Pending the availability of funds, it is the Bureau‟s intent to award cooperative agreements to five organizations under the Secondary School component, one organization under the Vocational Studies component, and one organization under the Young Professionals component.

Organizations that are successful in this competition will be awarded cooperative agreements for FY 2013 (for academic year 2013-14).

Pending successful implementation of this program and the availability of funds in subsequent fiscal years, it is the Bureau's intent to renew the cooperative agreements for three additional fiscal years before openly competing them again.

At the time of publication, funds have not been appropriated to support this program.

As is the case with all Bureau assistance awards, final awards cannot be made until funds have been appropriated by Congress, allocated and committed through internal Bureau procedures.
