The purpose of the Postdoctoral Training in General, Pediatric, and Public Health Dentistry program is to improve access to, and the delivery of, oral health care services for all individuals, particularly vulnerable populations and individuals located in rural and/or underserved areas.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Eligible entities include entities that have programs in dental schools, or approved residency or advanced education programs in the practice of general, pediatric, or public health dentistry, which may include dental schools, or public or private not-for-profit hospitals.

Public or private non-profit hospitals or other public or private non-profit entities, including faith-based and community-based organizations, as well as Tribes and Tribal organizations, are eligible to apply for these funds as long as they can carry out such grants and are otherwise eligible.

All training activities must be conducted within a postdoctoral training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Applicants can propose to develop an accredited program however, either the applicant or a partner organization responsible for the training should be an accredited program in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental public health by July 1, 2021.

HRSA will check the CODA website for accreditation confirmation.

Accreditation must be maintained continuously throughout the grant period.

For programs applying for a planning year, initial accreditation must be received at or before, July 1, 2021, and maintained for the remainder of the project period.
