Montana Conservation Corps Crews will be working in field with NPS staff, crews will construct and restore deteriorated and damaged trail structures and trail surfaces, and mitigate and rehabilitate damage to natural resources at pre-selected sites within the Yellowstone backcountry trail infrastructure.
Work
will include a wide-variety of trail restoration regimes:
construction and repair of bridges, turnpikes and causeways; drainage and erosion control systems, retaining walls, and tread surfaces using natural materials.
Impacts to soils and vegetation will be mitigated and rehabilitated using re-contouring, natural barrier and replanting techniques and consisting of native rock, log, and soil fill.
Onsite native vegetation seeds, plugs and transplants will also be used.
Work will be conducted with various hand tools and power tools as required such as chainsaw, Pionjar rock drill, Grip hoist, crosscut saw, axe, Pulaski, pick mattock, shovel, rock bar, rock hammer and lopper.
