The American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a member who was awarded a Master Cooperative Agreement P15AC00015 allowing ACE to participate in specific tasks, and can provide the necessary activities involved in this particular task while providing an effective outcome for NPS and the objectives of


this research/educational project.

The Task objective is to support and stimulate work and/or education and training opportunities for young adults through collaborative participation with maintenance and construction of a thirty plus mile trail system and/or a forty plus mile boundary fence system within Wind Cave National Park (WICA).

This is a modification is to an existing task agreement P16AC00315 to add additional funding in the amount of $47,20 0. 0 0. Purpose of this task agreement is the placement of high school and college-aged individuals (ages 16-25) and other qualified persons who volunteer their services through ACE in exchange for training and education experiences in resource management and conservation projects.

The statement of work summary:
To recruit and train a youth crew to repair trail tread damaged by erosion by installing approximately 15 new water bars along the 3. 6 mile Sanctuary Trail in WICA to prevent continued deterioration of resources and enhance the experience of visitors utilizing the trail.

Trees, brush and other vegetation encroaching on the trail will be removed by trimming, mowing and pruning.

Non-native vegetation such as Canadian thistle will be treated by pulling and mowing.

Vegetation encroaching along 1. 8 mile of trail will be treated by mowing and pruning.
