Changing Tides: A Virtual Field Trip

Bringing some of the fascinating, remote resources and research along the Katmai and Lake Clark coastlines into classrooms around the world, we will capitalize on the Changing Tides project, an ongoing Coastal Settlement-funded collaboration centered at Lake Clark and Katmai National Parks, to create

a ⿿virtual field trip (VFT),⿝ a long-term, broad-reaching curriculum-based outreach product.

The VFT for Changing Tides will consist of media-rich, curriculum-based web pages and lesson plans that allow any classroom in the world with web access to learn about and learn from this project.

For those classrooms without the necessary bandwidth, this VFT will be available on a DVD or USB flash drive.

The VFT will be targeted at grades 5-8 and will illuminate important connections between the marine and terrestrial ecosystems while also highlighting the vulnerability of coastal resources to climate change and some of the associated consequences for terrestrial resources.
