NOTICE OF INTENT: Developing Inventory and Monitoring Protocols for Sister Park Springs
This project is intended to support the 1997 Letter of Intent for Joint Work in Natural Protected Areas on the United States-Mexico border, the March 18, 2000 agreement on Cooperation in Management and Protection of National Parks and Other Protected Natural Areas, and the Joint Declaration of Sister
Park Partnerships signed on March 23, 2006 between the U. S. and Mexico.
The sister parks relevant to this project across the Rio Grande from each other and within the Chihuahuan Desert.
The water resources and biological diversity of these adjacent protected areas represent significant shared resource values.

Project Goals â¿¿ This outcome of this project is intended to facilitate delivery of data on conditions, trends and updated assessments of groundwater and spring resources important to the Rio Grande and associated watersheds adjacent to and within Big Bend National Park (BIBE) and the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River.
The project will ensure the safe and timely execution of projects to provide the public, partners, and park resource managers with the information needed to update watershed, river and riparian vegetation management plans, strategies, and visitor use plans B.
Project Objectives â¿¿ The project objectives include the development of local capacity for mapping and characterizing spring resources within communities associated with Sister Parks.
This project will also provide the means to enable the assessment of impacts to biological resources of local springs.
