U.S. AMBASSADORS FUND FOR CULTURAL PRESERVATION 2017 LARGE GRANTS COMPETITION

The U. S. Embassy Colombo is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for the 2017 Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) large grants program.

We invite you to work with the Public Affairs section at U. S. Embassy Colombo to develop and submit proposals for possible funding

You are invited to send project abstracts for large-scale, partnership-based projects to preserve significant cultural heritage sites in Sri Lanka and Maldives through this program.

The AFCP large grants program takes place in two rounds:
Project Abstract (Round 1) and Full Project Proposal (Round 2).

Only those applicants whose abstracts are successfully reviewed will be eligible to develop and submit full proposals for round 2. Attached to this notification are further details on the types of projects that can be funded.

The minimum floor on AFCP large grant awards is $200,000 per project, up to a maximum of $979,00 0. Applicants may propose performance periods of up to 60 months (five years) demarcated in one-year budget periods (2017, 2018, 2019, etc.).

Projects must begin before September 30, 2017 and conclude no later than September 30, 202 0. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is December 22, 201 6. Fully developed project proposals for successful abstracts will be due February 3, 201 7. If invited to submit full project proposals to round 2, an Embassy official will provide instructions.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Reputable and accountable non-commercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations, including U.S.-based organizations subject to Section 501(c)(3) of the tax code, that are registered and active in SAM.gov and able to demonstrate that they have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.

Embassies will vet applicants for eligibility, suitability, and reputable performance in cultural preservation or similar activities.
