The objective of this award is to increase the adoption of safer sexual behaviors and utilization of core HIV prevention interventions through improved and expanded public health interventions and changes in social norms that facilitate HIV transmission.
This support will include social and behavior
change communication (SBCC) including mass media, community and interpersonal interventions in selected regions (as outlined in Geographic Scope) and build capacity of regional and local community stakeholders and GRN offices to plan, monitor and review a combination of evidence-based HIV prevention and community-based public health interventions.
This includes prevention of sexual transmission through behavioral interventions, prevention with persons living with HIV (PLHIV) referred to as Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention (PHDP), promotion of biomedical interventions such as neonatal and adult medical male circumcision (MC), integrating sexual and reproductive health efforts overall, and promote national HIV counseling and testing (HCT) and interventions to improve knowledge and demand of health services.
In coordination with public health activities supported by the Government of the Republic of Namibia (GRN) and other development partners the program will contribute to a reduction in new HIV infections.
